Sweden's Minister for Housing visits K2A student accommodation

Today Andreas Carlson, Minister for Infrastructure and Housing (Christian Democrats), visited K2A Knaust & Andersson Fastigheter's student accommodation in Barkarbystaden, Järfälla, on the outskirts of Stockholm. The minister met students who have been able to move to the Stockholm region to study thanks to the construction of new student housing, and saw tangible examples of K2A's award-winning sustainability work.

"Being able to find accommodation in the location where you're offered a place to study is a prerequisite for starting a new study programme. It's extremely important for Sweden as a knowledge nation that there is sufficient student accommodation available," says Andreas Carlson, Minister for Infrastructure and Housing (Christian Democrats).

K2A is one of the few nationwide student housing companies, offering students accommodation from Lund in the south to Kiruna in the north. There is a joint queue for all locations, which anyone who has reached the age of 16 can join - regardless of where they end up studying.

"When you're young, it's very difficult to know in advance what or where you'll be studying after upper-secondary school. You may also want to change institutions once you start studying at a university or college. We can see that there's a very strong argument for a student housing company that has housing in all parts of the country," says Johan Knaust, CEO of K2A.

You can hear more about the ministerial visit in an upcoming episode of K2A's own podcast, Den gröna fastighetspodden (The Green Property Podcast).
