K2A awarded land allocation in Stockholm

K2A Knaust & Andersson Fastigheter has been awarded a land allocation close to the Sätra metro station in southern Stockholm. Plans for the property include the development of approximately 8,000 square metres of gross area, corresponding to about 120 rental apartments for K2A. Construction is scheduled to start in 2024 and the first occupancy is expected to take place in 2026.

"There is substantial demand for new rental apartments in Stockholm and we look forward to continuing to develop Stockholm in a socially and environmentally sustainable way," says Johan Knaust, CEO of K2A.

At the location for the land allocation, K2A is planning to construct rental apartments in timber, emphasising wooden architectural design features. The City of Stockholm's Development Office (Exploateringskontoret) highlights in particular K2A's strong references from previous projects and that the company has high ambitions for sustainable construction and social sustainability.

"This is a welcome addition of apartments in Sätra and the project has the potential to create social value and promote security, which were important in this land allocation. It is particularly gratifying that the building will use timber, in a manner that is well suited to the surroundings," says Johan Nilsson, Chairman of the City of Stockholm's Development Committee.

The location for the land allocation is part of the Sätra 2:1 property, on Björksätravägen near to the Sätra metro station. K2A received a direct allocation and the land will be granted as a site leasehold.

Earlier in spring 2022, K2A was awarded another land allocation in southern Stockholm, to construct 80-120 rental apartments in Stureby/Örby. Both of these land allocations are a result of K2A's focus on the City of Stockholm's "hyresrättspushen" initiative aimed at increasing the number of rental apartments.

The new apartments will be produced in timber and environmentally certified under the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. The ambition is that the buildings will qualify for the dark green environmental classification based on CICERO's methodology, which is also used as a basis in the classification of K2A's Green Equity Framework, corresponding to the highest environmental classification.
