K2A and Granitor allocated land in Stockholm for long-term development
K2A Knaust & Andersson Fastigheter and Granitor Properties have been individually allocated land in Rågsved in south Stockholm, for approximately 250 apartments in total. Construction will commence in 2026-2027 at the earliest, and the first occupancy is planned for 2030.
In a competitive land allocation process with several other developers, the City of Stockholm entrusted Granitor and K2A with the contract to develop Rågsved along the Stockholm Metro's green line. The aim is to build the new apartments and shared spaces with timber, and the project is planned to take place in partnership with architectural firm Arkitema.
"It is gratifying that the City of Stockholm has decided to proceed with this project comprising climate-smart housing and a clear focus on social sustainability. For K2A, it will be another important project in our construction portfolio for the future. Stockholm is our most important market and the ability to already start planning for another Stockholm project that can commence in the latter half of the 2020s is very positive for our long-term growth," says Johan Knaust, CEO of K2A.
"Granitor Properties is passionate about the development of urban environments where people can feel safe and thrive, so we are very happy that the City of Stockholm has decided to move forward with our proposal for Rågsved. This project is particularly rewarding because we will be working closely with both a dedicated architect and a knowledgeable developer with extensive management experience. We are looking forward to realising our concept with a focus on several dimensions of sustainability," says Johan de Besche, Business Development Officer at Granitor Properties in Stockholm.
This is the third time that K2A has been allocated land in south Stockholm in 2022. Earlier this year, K2A was allocated land adjacent to the Sätra Metro Station, and land linked to the development of Örbystråket in the Stureby/Örby neighbourhood. This is the sixth time in recent years that Granitor has been allocated land in the City of Stockholm, but the first time in this particular area. Granitor has previously worked with zoning plans for areas including Stockholm Royal Seaport and Årstafältet.
A key element of the project will be resident engagement throughout the entire process.
"This will be built together with the people of Rågsved. That's exactly how good architecture is created - at the intersection of people, culture and homes, and we are really looking forward to the project," says Kristina Peter, CEO of Arkitema Sweden.
