K2A was ranked first among listed residential property companies in the industry-leading GRESB sustainability assessment for property management activities. GRESB is widely used by institutional and financial investors around the world to evaluate sustainability performance and risk management within the real estate and infrastructure sectors. K2A’s property development activities also received the highest possible rating of five stars.

K2A’s student housing project Generatorn in Linköping was named Sweden’s Best New Student Housing Development by the industry association Studentbostadsföretagen. Sustainability performance is a key criterion in the award assessment. K2A’s properties Hinderbanan in Gävle and Luftseglaren in Barkarbystaden have also previously been shortlisted among the strongest contenders for the award, reflecting the company’s long-standing focus on sustainable and attractive housing for students.

When K2A received the Symbiosis Award for a second time, it became the first company ever to do so. The award is presented to Swedish companies that demonstrate responsible entrepreneurship and show how sustainability initiatives can be translated into tangible business value. In the same year, K2A’s student housing property Luftseglaren in Barkarbystaden was awarded Byggnadsmärket by Järfälla Municipality. The award was established to promote the preservation and development of buildings with cultural, architectural and environmental value, and recognises projects that contribute positively to the built environment.

K2A, together with Shades of Green, developed the world’s first framework for green equity. The framework formed the basis for K2A becoming the first company in the world whose shares were classified as green.

K2A obtained a licence to develop Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings, a certification that has since guided the company’s new developments. The company’s target is for 100 per cent of its buildings to hold an environmental certification.
